Barbara Murchie has 30 years of experience as counsel in a broad range of litigation matters including intellectual property, contract and tort disputes, professional and municipal liability, product liability and construction. Her practice litigation practice currently focuses on resolving or litigating intellectual property disagreements, and, in particular, patent infringement and validity disputes. Barbara also provides strategic counsel on intellectual
property issues with a view to identifying and solving problems before or during litigation.
Barbara has experience before the Ontario and Federal Courts at both the trial and appellate levels. Barbara is a bencher of the Law Society of Upper Canada, chair of its Tribunal Committee and, formerly, vice chair of its Professional Development and Competence Committee and co-chair of the Retention of Women in Private Practice Working Group until its merger with the Equity Committee. She sits regularly as an adjudicator for the Law Society Tribunal, an administrative tribunal that hears cases involving professional misconduct allegations
