Paramjit Singh Patwalia | India
Mr. Paramjit Singh Patwalia was born on 12th May, 1963. He completed his graduation (Bachelor in Commerce) from Punjab University in 1984, securing a college Roll of Honour in academics. Thereafter, he obtained Bachelor of Law (LLB) Degree from Punjab University in 1987.
He started his career as an Advocate in the Punjab & Haryana High Court in 1987. At a very young age he acquired a vast practice in the fields of Civil, Service, Education, Tax and Corporate laws as also on the original Constitutional side (Writ Petitions) in the High Court of Punjab and Haryana.
Keeping in view his practice, the Hon’ble Judges of the Punjab & Haryana High Court suo moto designated him as a Senior Advocate (QC) at the age of 39 years making him, at that time, the youngest Senior Counsel in the High Court. Thereafter, he was elevated as a Permanent Judge of the Punjab & Haryana High Court (a Constitutional Assignment) at the age of 42 years in March, 2006. From the first day of his elevation he was the youngest High Court Judge in the whole of India and continued to be so during his entire tenure as a Judge till he resigned that assignment in December, 2006 to resume his practice as a Senior Advocate in the Supreme Court of India.
The Government of India appointed Mr. Paramjit Singh Patwalia as Additional Solicitor General of India on 8th June, 2014 for a tenure of 3 years.
He has presented papers at various International Law Seminars and Conferences and has also participated as a delegate from India in the 27th Session of the Human Rights Council of the United Nations General Assembly held on May, 2017 (Working Group on the Universal Periodic Review).
